STATE HOUSING

Sir,—l read with interest Mr Marshall’s very Informative statement concerning the rental position of State houses. For the past 18 years I have been a property owner, and during all that time have been paying off my house and paying my share of rates and taxes. Since the advent of the Labour Government in 1935, I have, in addition to paying for myself, been helping to pay the rent for some of my more fortunate lellows who live in State houses. Mr Marshall and his Government are to be congratulated on putting an end to this most unsatisfactory position.—l am, etc., Ratepayer No. 1.
