Ministerial The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Mr Holyoake, who will arrive in Dunedin this afternoon, is accompanied by Mr S. W. Smith, M.P., the Parliamentary Undersecretary to the Minister. Mr Holyoake will return to Wellington by air on Friday morning, but Mr Smith will remain to visit Invercargill on March 27. He will return to Dunedin on March 28. He will visit Oamaru, Timaru, and Ashburton on March 29 and 30, arriving in Christchurch on the latter date. The Minister of Public Works and Railways, Mr Goosman, yesterday received deputations until late in the evening at his hotel. He will leave this morning with his secretary, Mr M. Janes, for the north, and will meet deputations at Maheno, Oamaru and Timaru, where he will spend the night. Accompanying the Minister is the Commissioner of Works, Mr E. R. McKillop.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Otago, Dr R. S. Aitken, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians at the annual meeting of the college held at the Auckland Hospital yesterday. Mr R. S. Wogan is retiring from the position of director of pay accounts and Base Records at the end of this month. He will have completed nearly 50 years in the public service. Mr S. Lawn, accompanied by Mrs Lawn, left yesterday to attend the Retailers’ Federation Conference at Wairakei. Mr H. P. Desmoulins, who will leave shortly for a trip to Britain, was entertained by members of the Community Sing Committee at afternoon tea in 'the University CJubrom yesterday. Mr J. F. Himburg, the secretary, presented Mr Desmoulins with a book, and on behalf of the members trusted that he would have a pleasant trip and a safe return. His Worship the Mayor, Sir Donald Cameron, who was present, also extended good wishes to him.
