PARAWA DERBY'S RECORD

Headed For Tight Classes

One of the most consistent performers in J. B. Pringle’s team this season has been Parawa Derby, whose record is four wins and a similar number of placings in 13 starts, and he is entitled to be one of the favourites for the Fendalton Handicap at Addington on Saturday. His first success was in the Discovery Handicap, of one mile and a-quarter, at the Wellington meeting in November, his win being a very easy one. Taken to Auckland for the Christmas meeting, he went 4min 22 3-ssec from a 4min 39sec mark to win the Summer Handicap, his winning margin being four lengths. Three placed performances followed and then came wins at Canterbury Park and New Brighton. At Canterbury Park he was successful In the Wigram Handicap, of one mile and five furlongs, in 3min 27 3-ssec from a 3min 40sec mark, and at New Brighton he won the Eclipse Handicap, of one mile and a-half, In 3min 13 4-ssec from 3min 20sec.

A five-year-old by Dillon Hall from War Betty, a Man o’ War mare, Parawa Derby shows promise of reaching the tightest classes.
