SETTLERS FROM EUROPE

May Nominate Friends For Immigration REFUGEE ORGANISATION New settlers from Europe are at present being advised by the Department of Labour and Employment that they may nominate friends or relatives who are under the care of the International Refugee Organisation in Europe for immigration to New Zealand on the condition that they find or provide accommodation for the new settlers. Transport is to be provided by the IRO. Last June 1000 new settlers from Europe—the official name for displaced persons—arrived in New Zealand, and were placed in employment and accommodation throughout the country. Another 1000 are expected to arrive in September.
