APPEAL FOR FUNDS

Johnston’s Visit To England The appeal for funds to send Ron Johnston, captain of the Otago Speedway team, to England to gain further experience, was launched at last night's meeting at the Tahuna Stadium with a gift of £SO from the Speedway management. A tarpaulin muster accounted for £67 17s 3d, and collection boxes brought in £22 5s 3d. Other amounts acknowledged were: Alan Crighton. Ltd., £lO, Carl Larsen £5. Mr and Mrs L. O. Chivers £1 Is, and Mr George Aughton 10s. With further donations still to come, the total in hand is £156 13s 6d, and it is estimated that the amount required is £3OO.
