CAPACITY YARDING

Waipiata Stock Sale Special to the Daily Times WAIPIATA, Mar. 22. At the Waipiata sale held yesterday every available pen was filled with an overflow into the railway trucking yards, culminating in a capacity yarding of 19,500 sheep being offered by auction. The class of stock offered was definitely better than that at other previous sales in Central Otago centres, comprising annual draft s.m. halfbred ewes, annual draft Corriedale s.m. ewes, full-mouth crossbred and full-mouth Corriedale ewes, and an odd pen of two-tooth ewes. Lambs of all classes were predominant, comprising approximately one-third of the yarding. Competition for all good lines of annual draft sound-mouth ewes was sound, with good-conditioned lines of full-mouth ewes also commanding good competition. In the lamb section Romney cross ewe lambs and halfbred ewe lambs of good quality were up to recent rates, as were also good-class halfbred carry-over wether lambs. Medium-class lambs were, if anything. easier on late rates. Quotations: Good Romney cross twotooth ewes. 60s to 655; medium, 52s to 565; small, 43s to 48s.
