LAMBS SELL WELL
Addington Market PA CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 22. The store sheep entry at Addington today was 9028 lambs, 2061 two-tooths, 14,563 aged ewes and 1147 wethers. Lambs sold well at full late rates. Best ewe lambs sold to 47s 6d; best wether lambs, from 33s to 39s 6d; good, 27s 6d to 325; and others down to 20s. The two-tooth offering was small but of a fairly good quality. The demand was slack and prices were 4s a head down on recent rates. Best made to 71s; good, 50s to 58s; medium, 43s to 495; and others down to 345. The offering of aged ewes was of very ordinary quality and interest was slack until toward the end of the sale. Prices for the best were about on a par with last week, while others were 2s to 3s easier. Best made to 50s; good, 35s to 435; good sound-mouth, 31s to 41s; medium, 26s to 30s; others down to 15s. The fat lamb entry was 2954 of good quality. The demand was keen and steady and prices were fully firm to slightly higher. Best made 53s to 67s Id; good, 43s to 525; medium and light, 31s Id to 425. , J The fat sheep entry of 4500 included several lines of specially good wethers. The demand for ewes was keen throughout the sale at 2s above last week. Best wethers were 2s dearer, while others were fully firm. Values: Extra prime heavy wethers, to 83s Id; prime heavy, 49s to 595; prime medium-weight, 43s to 48s; others, 35s to 425. Extra prime ewes, to 47s Id; prime. 36s to 425; prime mediumweight, 32s to 35s 6d; others, 22s to 31s. The fat cattle entry was 534 of ordinary quality. Best beef was fully firm and plain and secondary up to 20s cheaper. Best beef made 80s to 85s per 1001 b; good, to 70s; medium, to 555. Best cow, to 57s 6d; secondary cow, 36s 6d to 40s. Values: Extra prime heavy steers, to £35 2s 6d; prime heavy, £25 10s to £3O; prime medium-weight, £ls to £24; ordinary and light, £9 10s to £l4 10s. Extra prime heifers, to £26 2s 6d; prime, £l3 10s to £2O; ordinary and light. £7 to £l2 10s. Extra prime cows, to £l9 17s 6d; prime, £lO to £ls; others, £5 to £9. , The pork entry was big and values were easier by 5s to 8s a head. The chopper entry was also big and prices were down £1 to 30s. The bacon entry was the largest for several weeks and prices were 3s to 5s easier. Values: Light porkers, £4 9s 6d to £4 19s 6d; medium. £5 2s 6d to £5 12s 6d; heavy, £5 14s 6d to £6 3s 6d. Price per lb was lid to Is 3d. Choppers made £4 18s 6d to £ll Is. Light baconers made £6 9s 6d to £6 19s 6d; medium, £7 2s 6d to £7 9s 6d; heavy, £7 10s 6d to £7 19s 6d; extra heavy, £8 0s 6d to £8 9s Gd. The average price per lb was 10id to 12d.
