ATTITUDE TO KASHMIR

Antagonism To India Alleged

BRITISH PRESS AND BROADCASTING

NZPA Special Correspondent Rec. 8 p.m. LONDON. Mar. 21. A charge that British newspapers and the British Broadcasting Corporation were antagonistic to India, and that they persistently misrepresented India’s attitude to Kashmir, was made in the Indian Parliament by Dr B. Keskar, Deputy Minister for External Affairs, according to messages from New Delhi.

Dr Keskar claimed that India had been unable to put her case to the world on the question of Kashmir, and that there was “ deep-rooted prejudice” against India among the British press. He complained particularly that the BBC had invited the leader of the “free Kashmir” movement to broadcast, and had given bulletins from the “ free Kashmir ” movement as if they had emanated from the official Kashmir Government. At the same time the BBC completely blacked out Indian broadcasts on the same question.
