“FACILITIES FIRST”

Matter For Ministry PA AUCKLAND, Mar. 21. Commenting on the cablegram. Mr G. N. Roberts, general manager of Tasman Empire Airways, said the company could not begin operations in Wellington until the facilties were there. The decision to go ahead with the building of facilities at Wellington rested with the Government. As far as he knew, no decision had yet been made. The time required to build the facilities and allow the company to commence operations was a question for the Works Department.

Mr Roberts denied that the Welling-ton-Sydney service was being delayed until the Sydney-Suva service was established. The Suva service would begin when night flights were resumed in June.
