Smaller Yarding Of Store Sheep PRICES GENERALLY EASIER Special to the Daily Times INVERCARGILL, Mar. 21. A smaller yarding of store sheep was forward at the Lorneville stock sale to day, compared with the record entries of the previous sales this year. The offering was down by several thousand. Prices generally were easier, but there was a full bench of buyers. Prices for w-ethers in the fat sheep entry were a shade firmer than last week. Trading was not brisk for fat and store cattle and prices were easier. Although pot as big as last week's record yarding the store sheep ottering was still a full one. The demand was sound and prices were fully firm on late rates Best two-tooth ewes had made to 70s; medium sorts, 60s to 655: small, 50s to 555. Sound-mouth ewes sold at 50s. fullmouth ewes realised to 455; good sorts, 40s to 435; and medium, 38s to 395. Best failing-mouth ewes were traded at from 36s to 40s; average sorts, 33s to 365; poorer conditioned sheep, 20s to 255; and culls down to ss. Best ewe lambs made to 555; mediums, 48s to 525; small, 35s to 38s. Best wether lambs changed hands at up to 365; medium class, 31s to 325; and carryover sorts, 26s to 295. Best store wethers realised to 425, with poorer sorts making from 30s to 335. The bulk of the store cattle entry consisted of mixed quality cattle There was little briskness about the sale and prices generally were easier. Three-year-old bullocks made to £l4 10s; best two-vear-olds. to £l2; and poorer sorts, £7 10s to £9 10s. A pen of speyed heifers sold at £ll and mixed sex calves realised £3 12s 6d to £s.' Best conditioned empty cows brought up to £9 10s; average sorts, £5 to, £7 10s: and aged descriptions down to £3. In the dairy section best cows at profit made to £l7 10s; average sorts, £lO to £l2; and aged, £4 to £6. A bigger yarding of fat cattle was forward than at last week’s sale, comprising good quality cattle of all classes and Including some unfinished sorts. . The sale was a dull one, prices realised being barely in keeping with those ruling at last week’s sale. Good quality mediumweight bullocks made from £22 15s to £24: handy-weights, £2O to £2l 10s; light-weights, £l7 to £lB 10s; small, £l2 10s to £ls. Good quality mediumweight cows made from £l4 10s to £l6; light-weights, £l3 to £l4; unfinished. £lO 10s to £ll 10s. Handy-weight heifers, £ls 10s to £l7; light-weiehts, £l3 10s to £l4; small, £ll to £l2 The full entrv of fat sheep included manly good-quality sorts, prices for wethers were a shade firmer than those secured at last week’s sale. Best quality heavy-weight wethers made to 555; me-dium-weights. 49s to 525: handy-weights 46s 6d to 48s; light-weights, 41s to 43s 6d. Good quality butchers’ ewes sold at 375. freezing ewes making from 29s to 35s 3d. Extra heavy lambs sold to- 57s 6d, good quality freezing weights making from 42s to 455,
