LECTURE PROGRAMME
Distinguished Physician British Knight Arrives In Dunedin Sir Henry Dale, one of the leading British authorities on the medicinal treatment of disease, arrived in Dunedin last night by car from Christchurch. In Dunedin he will give a course of lectures to students, professors, anfl to the public. During his fortnight in the city Sir Henry will also renew his friendships with the vice-chancellor of the University of Otago, Dr R. S. Aitken, the dean of the Medical School, Sir Charles Hercus, and Professors F. H. Smirk and J. C. Eccles, of the school. Sir Henry is accompanied by Lady Dale. A civic reception will be tendered to Sir Henry and Lady Dale this morning, and a reception by the University will be held early next week.
Sir Henry will also visit the other three university centres of the Dominion. His tour is being made under the auspices of the British Council. He describes his visit to the Waitomo Caves after he had arrived in Auckland on February 26 from England as delightful, and he is looking forward to visiting the Central Otago lakes district after giving his. lectures in Dunedin. Sir Henry gave an informal address on Lord Rutherford at New Plymouth, and his next engagement after Dunedin will be at Christchurch. Sir Henry shared the Nobel Prize for medicine in 1936, and was president of the Royal College of Physicians in 1948. He has also held the distinction of being the president of the Royal Society. During the war years he was a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the British Wfir Cabinet.
