DROUGHTS IN SOUTH AFRICA NZPA—Reuter—Copyright CAPE TOWN, Feb. 16. Drought killed more than 900,000 cattle last year in the border midlands and Transkei areas of Eastern Cape province, according to official estimates. The drought has now lasted live years, and although there have been moderate rains recently, the position is still serious. In some parts bore holes havp dried up and towns have been depending on water carried by rail. Churches arc praying for rain.
