DUNEDIN FILM SOCIETY Loss of membership had largely accounted for the £6O debit on the years working, said Mr F. L. C. Scrivener, the president of the Dunedin Film Society, at the annual meeting last night. During the year three new ventures had been started. The Friday tea-hour sessions, though not a financial success, had resulted in the society being given recognition by the Department of Adult Education and the City Council, so that in future they would have the free use of a projector and the Library Hall for their meetings. It had been hoped to arrange more meetings with lectures, such as that given by Mr Stanhope Andrewes, and this scheme was recommended to the incoming committee. During the year also tea-hour sessions had been given at the St. James Theatre; two of these had shown a profit, which was given to charitable societies: the third showed a loss, which was largely borne by the society. A proposal to raise the annual subscription from 10s to 12s 6d was carried, Mrs M. M. Dunningham pointing out that of the subscription 5s a head went to the New Zealand Film Institute, which intended to buy films from the British Film Institute. , . . . The following officers were elected for the ensuing year Patron. Sir William Benham; vice-patron, Sir Charles Hercus; president, Mr F. L. C. Scrivener; vicepresident, Mrs M. M. Dunningham; committee —Mrs Zoe Murdoch, Mr Desmond Greenslade, Dr M. Irwin and Mr Charles Wilson.
