FLYING CONTROL TO RACE OVER A DISTANCE

Flying Control is to be tried over a mile and a-half in the Summer Handicap at Trentham, and if he races up to his form on the North Otago circuit he may pay a dividend. There is no doubt about his staying ability, as he made no race of the Timaru Cup last season. He was successful in two high-weight events at Oamaru at New Year, both of them under big weights, and today he drops to 7.1. With a suitable light-weight jockey; he should give a good account of himself. On Monday he ran second to Gay Gordon over a mile, and was finishing on.well. He is owned by Sir John McKenzie and trained at Riccarton by W. Barr. Flying Control has been a difficult horse to keep sound, and, but for that fact, he would have gone a long way in the best company before this.
