CROQUET CHAMPIONSHIPS
BRYAN AND MRS WOOD WIN DOUBLES EVENT PA AUCKLAND, Jan. 23. C F. Bryan and Mrs Wood today won the New Zealand Croquet Association’s Champion Doubles - title in the fifth day of play at the national tournament. They defeated W. Kirk and Mrs Kirk 26—19. In the semi-finals Bryan and Mrs'Wood defeated Mrs Purdy and Miss Wainwright, and Kirk and Mrs Kirk defeated A. G. Ross and Mrs McMurray. In the Women’s Championship, Mrs E J. White beat Mrs G. White, Mrs Meikle beat Mrs Barlow, Mrs Danby beat Mrs Henrys, Mrs McLeod beat Mrs Danby and Mrs Barlow beat Mrs Windsor. . , . In the Open Championship, Ross beat Wilson, Mrs Holly beat Mrs Smeaton, Mrs Prangley beat Mrs Jackson, Mrs Burns beat Mrs Cleave and Mrs Prangley, Mrs Gilbert beat Mrs McKerrow, Wilson beat Mrs Hawke, Wadsworth beat Colonel Beamish, and Mrs Meikle beat Mrs McKeown.
