GERMAN UNITY
NEW SOCIETY EMERGES IN WEST ZONE NZPA—Copyright
Rec. 9.50 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 21. The foundation of a new society advocating unity with the east zone, and a new extreme Nationalist Party, was seen by Western Germany today, says the Frankfurt correspondent of the Observer. Some 50 Conservative politicians, diplomats, and business men gathered at Hamburg to form “ a society for the reunion of Germany.” The society will try to keep alive the idea of national unity and to organise meetings between East and West German experts on practical questions, particularly economic ones. The German Right Party in Lower Saxony and the National Democratic Party in Hesse held a fusion conference at Kassel. Both parties have been exponents of thinly-disguised neo-Nazi propaganda. Their slogans include the restoration of the honour of the German soldier, the regaining of all former German territories, including the Sudetenland, the punishment of Allied war criminals, and the preservation of the “good sides” of Nazism.
