CUSTOMS REVENUE
BIG INCREASE SHOWN FIGURES FOR DECEMBER Revenue from Customs in Dunedin for December totalled £281,427, against £245,905 for the same month last year. Customs duty increased over last December’s figure by £20,000 and sales tax was up by £15,000. Petrol tax increased by about £ISOO. The figures for last month with those for December, 1948. are:—
The figures for the last three months of this year show the considerable increase of £97,373 against those for the same period in 1948. Customs duty was the main source of revenue, the total favouring 1949 by more than £BI,OOO. Sales tax increased by £12,000 on 1948. The figures are:—
