CONSTRUCTION HALTED

AMERICA'S MYSTERY WARSHIP Rec. 8 p.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 22. America’s mystery warship, the USS Kentucky, will not be completed at present, the navy announced today. The Kentucky was laid down in 1942 as the sister ship to the 45,000-ton battleship, Missouri. Construction of the new ship has been halted several times. The navy in 1947 announced that she was being redesigned as a floating base for launching guided missiles. Completion of the vessel up to the second deck level was ordered in 1948, but no details have been made public on the work since that time.
