DEMANDED FROM RUSSIANS

INFORMATION .ON JAPANESE PRISONERS NZPA—Reuter—Copyright TOKIO, Dec. 22. A demonstration by a crowd of angry Japanese returned soldiers and wives and mothers of missing war prisoners outside the Russian Embassy tonight achieved some success wheii the Russians promised to attempt to get information about prisoners of war still in their hands. A delegation of three members of the Upper House and five representatives of families whose menfolk are missing in Russiancontrolled territory were- admitted to the Embassy after the demonstration looked like' developing into an ugly, scene. Two junior Russian officials promised to request Moscow for an answer to the delegation’s demands: — 1. How many Japanese deaths had occurred in Siberia and Manchuria. 2. How many Japanese were still alive. 3. Two-way postal communication with prisoners. 4. Repatriation of remaining prisoners during the winter months instead of ceasing repatriation in November. Reuter adds that, according to Russian figures, only 27 Japanese are not repatriated. American figures show 376,929 unaccounted for of whom 347,047 are probably dead.
