INFANT BELIEVED DROWNED

PA NEW PLYMOUTH. Dec. 22. Alighting from a stationary truck on a log bridge crossing the Wanganui River at about 12.30 p.m. today, a two and a-half year old infant, Francis Hemopo, son of Mr Albert Hemopo, a farmer and contractor, of Kakahi, is believed to have fallen into the river and drowned. An extensive search, which was begun early this afternoon and continued tonight, failed to locate the body.
