KASHMIR DISPUTE
COUNCIL PRESIDENT TO MEET PARTIES NZPA —Copyright
Rec. 11 p.m. NEW YORK, Dec. 17. The United Nations Security Council today asked the chairman, General A. G. McNaughton (Canada), to meet informally with the Indian and Pakistani representatives in an effort to settle the Kashmir dispute. The decision was made when the council opened the debate on the deadlock issue.
Dr Oldrich Chyle the Czech member of the United Nations Kashmir Commission, caused a stir today when he alleged that its failure was partly due to interference by Britain and the United States. Dr Chyle’s criticism was contained in his minority report on the commission’s work, which was circulated in the Security Council.
