CHARGE OF FORGERY

SUM OF £275 INVOLVED REMAND UNTIL THURSDAY A charge of forgery involving the sum of £275 was laid against David Robert Gordon, aged 23, a post office clerk, who appeared in the Dunedin Magistrate's Court on Saturday morning before Messrs H. E. Barth and J. C. Aitken, justices of tile peace. On the application of Detective G. Evans, who arrested the accused, Gordon was remanded until Thursday. Bail was allowed at £SO with a surety of the same amount. Gordon was alleged to have signed the name of A. L. Hansen to a receipt for the sum of £275 on a Post Office Savings money order purporting to be a withdrawal of that amount from the Post Office Savings Bank. Drunkenness A first offender for drunkenness, who did not appear, was convicted and fined £l, the amount of his bail.
