AIRCRAFT DAMAGED
AUSTRALIAN AIRMAN FACES COURT MARTIAL N ZP A—Copyright Rec. 11 p.m. BRISBANE, Dec. 16. Charged with having wilfully damaged four Lincoln bombers, a corporal of the RAAF faced a court martial at Brisbane today. Corporal C. W. Langtree, an air-frame fitter attached to No. 82 Bomber Wing at Amberley, pleaded not guilty to 10 charges which allege that in September, 1948 and March and July, 1949, he partially severed the trim tab cable, disconnected inter - communication leads, broke a portion of a radar scanner, cut high frequency wires, and smashed the glass of a compass. Outlining the case for the prosecution, Squadron Leader J. K. W. Cowie said that in September of last year two or three strands of a Lincoln bomber’s trim tab cable were found to be completely severed. Damage to three other Lincolns was discovered in March.
Squadron Leader Cowie added that the prosecution could not produce any witness to say he saw Langtree actually commit any damage.
