BLAME ON BRITAIN
DETERIORATION IN RELATIONS WITH ITALY
COUNT SFORZA’S CHARGES Rec. 11 p.m. ROME, Dec. 16. The Italian Foreign Minister, Count Sforza, at a press conference blamed Britain for the deterioration in Anglo\ltalian relations. It took two to make a marriage, he said, and Britain was unwilling, although he had tried to woo her and get her co-operation.
Count Sforza was answering ' questions about the murders of Italians in Eritrea, about which he said- the British public was being kept in the dark. He said that in the past few weeks alone 15 Italians had been murdered, and he quoted an unnamed British source as saying that the murders were quite excusable, since the Italians were supporting the independence of Eritrea, The attacks on Italians started after the United Nations on November 21 rejected the proposal to grant independence to Eritrea and decided to appoint a commission of inquiry.
