HOLIDAY CAMP
Visit To Whare Flat
The district Scout contingent under District Scoutmaster Kinder, will leave Oamaru for Whare Flat on Tuesday, December 27. Full Scout uniform will be worn while travelling. The camp will be open to visitors on Sunday, January 1. Dominion headquarters advises that a jamboree will be held in Canterbury, near Christchurch, during the DecemberJanuary Christmas period of 1950-51. The camp chief from Gilwell Park, Mr R. F. Thurman, will arrive in Auckland from Sydney on Wednesday, March 1. On Thursday, March 9, he will address a meeting of Scouters in Dunedin. As this will be the only chance for Cub and Scoutmasters to hear the Gilwell Camp Chief, Scouters are asked to make a preliminary plans to be present at the meeting in Dunedin. After giving careful consideration, the Dominion Executive Committee has determined that no change shall be made and that the uniform for all sections of the movement will remain as before. Congratulations are extended to Acting Scoutmaster lan McLean, Waitaki Troop, for winning the John Paape Memorial prize for 1949. Cub packs and Scout troops are now officially closed and will resume in the first week in February.
