RETIRING SOON

HARBOURMASTER HONOURED A tribute to the services given to the Otago Harbour Board by the harbourmaster, Captain F. G. MacDonald, was paid by the chairman, Mr W. R. Clarke, at the board's final meeting for the year last night. Mr Clarke said that Captain MacDonald had been in the service of 'the board for the past 34 years and had been harbourmaster for the past nine years. His resignation would take effect at the end of January, and as he was going on holiday, it would probably be the last meeting of the board he would attend. Other members joined with the chairman in his expression of good wishes to Captain MacDonald.
