LOSS TO AUCKLAND CRICKET

COWIE TRANSFERRED TO WELLINGTON PA AUCKLAND. Dec. 8. Auckland cricket has suffered a severe loss through the transfer of J. Cowie to Wellington. Recognised as one of the Outstanding bowlers in the world, Cowie has had a remarkably successful career in first-class cricket. He first, played senior cricket 21 years ago for the Grafton Club, and for the past eight years has represented North Shore. He gained his Auckland cap in 1932, and has played regularly for the province ever since. He toured overseas with New Zealand teams to Britain in 1937 and 1949.

D. C. Cleverley is not available for the Auckland Plunket Shield team to tour the south. He will be replaced by Hollywood. *
