PARENTS’ DAY

The day on which the school is thrown open each year to parents and friends of the pupils of the Waitaki Boys’ Junior High School was held yesterday afternoon. Parents assembled in the Hall of Memories early in the afternoon, when an address of welcome was given by the rector, Mr J. T. Burrows. At the conclusion of the address a musical programme was given. An inspection of the classrooms followed, and much interest was taken by the visitors in the motor engineering room, the metal and woodwork shops, the geography, biology, chemistry and physics laboratories, and the art room. A chance was also given to inspect the school grounds, where many sporting activities were held. The school band played several numbers during the afternoon. The school will again be open today when the Senior High School will hold its parents’ day.
