TWO UNCERTAIN SEATS

Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, Dec. 2. Although a change is not expected, there is still no certainty about the result of the parliamentary election in the Waimarino and Otaki electorates.

In Waimarino, where this sitting Labour member, Mr P. Kearins, had an election-night majority of 137 votes, there are 987 absentee and postal votes already notified to the chief electoral office as having to be added to the count’ and there will probably be more. In Otaki, where the sitting National member, Mr J. J. Maher, had a majority of 246 on the election-night count, there are 1264 absentee and postal votes yet to be included, and there may be more. In neither case is the official count likely to be completed before the end of next week.
