DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB
MEETING OF COMMITTEE At the monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club, held on Thursday afternoon, there were present Messrs L. C. Hazlett (chairman), C. N. Draper, J. E. Brunton, K. Clark, W. H. Elliott, A. P. Greenfield, W.' Garrett, H Halliday. D. M. Reid, A .N. Smith, R. W. Wilson and Dr E. R. Harty. The financial statement was tabled, and accounts amounting to £746 2s 8d were passed for payment. It was decided to instal the “ doubles totalisator" at Wingatui, but, as it was reported that the alterations and equipment necessary for the working of the scheme could not be arranged in time for the Christmas meeting, the scheme could not be operated until the February meeting. The provision of an additional loud speaker at the south end of the lawn to give a wider coverage for patrons was decided on. Arrangements for the cup meeting on December 26 and 27, 1949, were completed and Mr Wilson was added to the Judicial Committee. Dunedin District Committee The monthly meeting of the Dunedin District Comrhittee, held on Thursday afternoon, was attended by Messrs L. C. Hazlett (chairman), C. N. Draper, A. N. Smith, R. W. Wilson, W. Garrett, and J. E. Brunton. The secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference wrote stating that a provisional trainer’s licence had been granted to A. McLeod, of Milton. Notification that the Cromwell Jockey Clr.b had been granted permission to change the dates of its annual race meeting to March 11 and 13, 1950, as recommended by the committee, was received from the Racing Conference The programmes of. the following race meetings were approved:—Cromwell Jockey Club, March 11 and 13, 1950; •Beaumont Racing Chib; April 8 and 10, 1950; Naseby Gymkhana Sports Club, April 15, 1950. Applications for licences were recommended to the New Zealand ‘Racing Conference as follows: —L. A. CouttS. apprentice jockey’s licence, restricted to- apprentice races only, up to and including February 16, 1950; G. W. Thomas, apprentice jockey's licence, restricted to apprentice races only, up to and including March 11, 1950; K. W. Hollamby, conditional trainer’s licence. The New Zealand Racing Conference advised that the Kurow Jockey Club had been granted permission for the current season to conduct its meeting on January 3. 1950, on the Oamaru racecourse.
