IMPRESSIONS OF RACING ACROSS TASMAN PA AUCKLAND, Nov. 25. The 19-year-old jockey, Noel Eastwood, of Christchurch, returned by air to-day after his biggest win—the Caulfield Cupconvinced that “ you have to go to Australia to see real racing—the stands, crowds, and bookies make it like a real race meeting.” . . , Eastwood went to Australia primarily for a holiday, but soon got engagements and hit the headlines when he rode Lincoln, the 12-to-l winner of the Caulfield Cup. His handling of the horse was widelv praised in Australian newspapers. 1-Ie won a hack race at Flemington, but in the Melbourne Cup finished well back. “My horse, Aiming High, was a ' nohoper,’ and ran like one,” he said.
