Air Vice Marshal Reports On Suitable Types Of Machines

The Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, in the course of his address to electors in the Coronation Hall, St. Kilda, last night, referred to the recent visit of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal A. de T. Nevill, to Britain to see the latest types of aircraft. Mr Jones said the vice marshal had reported that there were two types of aircraft that would be suitable for the Dominion’s Transport Squadron—the Bristol Freighter and the Hastings.

“Both these machines could be used in the Dominion if necessary,” Mr Jones said, commenting on the vice marshal’s report. A part of their work would be aerial topdressing and he thought such a task would be valuable experience for the air force. “ The Government will give the fullest consideration to Air Vice Marshal Nevill’s report on the subject,” Mr Jones added.
