MR CONNOLLY’S CAMPAIGN

Sir,—Does Mr P. G. Connolly consider himself mentally and intellectually capable of teaching our newspaper editors their business? Is he so afraid of the truth that editors are a nightmare and editorials an obsession? Does he find it more pleasant to discuss the colour of Mr Anthony Eden’s bathing trunks than tell his audience the reason why we have to eat pig potatoes or go without? Will he tell his supporters that while New Zealanders have had to exist for years on six ounces of butter a week and no cream America has a surplus in both these essential foodstuffs? Will Mr Connolly tell us why coal production is down and our meat exports to Britain have shrunk by 7000 tons, why a certain Minister living in a State rental house gets a good slice of his rent paid and a house allowance of £2OO a year as well from the taxpayers of New Zealand? Dr Moody has proved that he is not the “ liar ’’ Miss Howard and Mr ConnoUy tried to make out he was. Will Mr Connolly reveal to his audience who was the culprit. The people of Dunedin are not interested in the colour of Mr Eden's bathing- trunks, but they are in such things as father, mother, and six children living in a single room of six feet by eight feet dimensions, or such appalling conditions as 10 people eating and sleeping in one room. The answer to these problems is what the people want, not silly chatter.—l am. etc., Matilda’s Pal.
