THE BROADCASTING SERVICE
Sir,—l agree with “Yodelling Jaokaroo ” that New Zealanders would profit a lot if there was an “ amateur hour ” such as we hear from Australia. We listen every Sunday morning from 8.20 to the talented artists and enjoy every minute of the broadcast. The session is also on in the evening from 9 o’clock. I am sure there are many singers who would get a chance to go further if a programme was run under the same conditions here. Give the artists auditions, then put them on at a local theatre and take recordings, then when these are played over the air, let the people. send in their votes. Australian stations have had children of eight years on the air. We have heard many New Zealanders and some have been voted very high..—l am. etc., Come On, New Zealand.
