DUKE IN MALTA
Appointment To Destroyer Rec. 9 p.m. VALETTA. Oct. 15. The Duke of Edinburgh arrived by air to-day to take up his appointment as first lieutenant of the destroyer Chequers, which is attached to the Mediterranean Fleet. The Duke has asked to be treated as an ordinary serving officer without special privileges because of his royal rank. The Duke will spend two months on shore. He learned on arrival that the Chequers is going into dock for refit.
