Valentino Knocked Out In Eighth Round NZPA—Copyright SAN FRANCISCO, Rec. 9 p.m. Oct. 15. Ezzard Charles knocked out Pat Valentino in the eighth round of the scheduled 15-round bou to-night successfully to defend his National Boxing Association heavy-weight title. Valentino forced the pace early, but Charles had complete control after the third round. He sent Valentino crashing to the canvas with a fierce right to the jaw 35 seconds after the opening of the eighth round. Valentino tried to rise but fell back as the referee finished the full count. A crowd estimated at 20,000 watched the fight.
