NEW ZEALAND’S CONNECTION BRETTON WOODS MONETARY SYSTEM PA WELLINGTON, Oct. 13. In the House of Representatives today Mr F. Langstone (Ind. Lab., Roskill) gave notice to ask the Minister of Finance if the Government has entered into an exchange agreement coordinating the New Zealand monetary system with the Bretton Woods'lnternational Monetary Fund requirements as provided for in Article 15 of the General Agreement on the Tariffs and Trade Act, 1948. If not, asked Mr Langstone, had a date been determined by the contracting parties within which such agreement must be entered into? He asked if the Government intended to publish the terms of such agreement, and if they would be such as not to interfere with the Government’s declared policy of controlling the New Zealand money system so as to avoid both inflation and deflation.
