QUEENSTOWN, Oct. 13, Congratulations to Mr John Bennetts, of Roxburgh, on his record of 50 years as a member of the Tuapeka Councy Council were offered at the conference of the South Island Local Bodies’ Association which concluded at Queenstown to-day. The president, Mr E. H.,Andrews, Mayor of Christchurch, said that Mr Bennetts was elected unopposed in 1899 and had been elected unopposed on 17 consecutive occasions. .It was a record, probably unequalled in the Dominion.
