Notes From Riccarton
Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 12. Periwig, who is engaged at the Geraldine meeting, was given a run over, two hurdles this morning. He jumped well, though without' much pace. The barrier at the half-mile post was available this morning,, and a number of novices, two-year-olds and older maidens were given some starting practice. G. S. Barr intended to race the three-year-old, Beau Esprit, at the Geraldine meeting, but he has developed a splint, which will mean a short rest. Though Sequoia has engagements on the second and third days at Trentham. he will not go north. He is booked to race at the .Banks Peninsula meeting.
Mr Buzz has joined A. B. Stove’s team, with a jumping career in view. Already he has shown some aptitude for hurdling. Four Otago horses—Ara Chief, Gold Song, Bobby Dazzler and the two-year-old, Way Home—were shipped to Wellington last night after breaking the journey at Riccarton for a day.
