FREEZING LICENCE
SOUTHLAND PETITION “SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES” Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, Sept 27. A petition before the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee of the House asking for the granting of an export freezing licence to Southland was heard to-day. When the House assembled Mr G. H. O. Wilson moved for leave for the committee to meet during sitting hours to-dav and to-morrow and Mr Holland, after remarking on the dram on the attendance in the House, suggested that efforts should be made to induce the petitioners to avoid approaching Parliament at the end of a session and thus forcing the House to put othei agreed with Mr Holland's point It was quite justifiable m general, he said. but .there were special circumstances in this case because it was the normal procedure for a petitioner, before approaching the House, first to exhaust all other remedies before the petition was lodged and that had to be done before the present petitioners could bring the case forward.
