Alterations Suggested A recommendation that points allotted in the North Otago Cricket Association’s competitions be reconsidered with a view to increasing those for an outright win was made by the annual meeting of the Oamaru Cricket Club on Monday night Mr J. Bee said that there were too many drawn matches under the present system and an increase in the points for an outright win would give clubs an added Incentive. Mr H. Kent was in the chair. Further recommendations which the delegates to attend the annual meeting of the association were requested to support were: That the club supports the playing of one-day matches commencing at 10 or 10.30 a.m.; that the senior- competition be confined to four teams, and that an intermediate grade be instituted and comprise four teams. Mr W M. Uttlev expressed the opinion that it was a mistake for the association to have six teems in the senior competition. lie thought that if the two weakest teams in the present senior competition ind the two strongest in the -junior comnetition constituted the proposed intermediate competition more interest would be given to cricket. „ Oflicers elected were:—Patron, Mr F Jones: president, Mr H. Kent: vice-pre-sidents 10 were elected; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Kelk; delegates to the association. Messrs S. Dick and J. Bee; committee—Messrs H Kent, A. Currie, H. Kelk, W. Uttlev, G. Wilson, J. Bee and the cantains of teams; club captain, Mr A Currie. . _ The opening day was set down for October 8 at Takaro Park. It was decided to invite the Cnrisbrook Club to play a match at Oamaru on Labour Day. Members expressed disappointment that no match against the touring Australian I earn had been alloted to North Otago Thev also asked if the team to play the visitors at Timaru was to be a combined one from North Otaßo. South Canterbury and Ashburton. It was decided to recommend to the association to ask whether the matches were allocated without applications being called.
