PA INVERCARGILL, Sept. 27. Rough-weather affected values at Lorneville to-day. Prices in the fat sections fluctuated, and, although they improved after the early pens, last week's prices were not fully recovered. Prime heavyweight bullocks brought to £36. A big yarding was forward in the fat sheep section, where values were easy in the early offerings, but gradually improved, although final prices were about 2s down on the previous week. The store sections were similarly affected.
Store Sheep.—The majority of the wethers entered were light and unfinished sorts. Good-quality woolly wethers made 66s to 695; medium, 62s to 655; light and unfinished, 53s to 565. Good-quality shorn wethers made 53s to 555; medium. 49s to 51s; light and unfinished, 42s 6d to 455. Good-quality woolly maiden ewes made 54s to 58s; medium, 50s to 52s 6d. Goodquality butchers’ ewes made 47s to 495; medium, 43s to 455; light-weights, 33s to 365. Fat Cattle.—There was an increased entry, mainly of good quality. In the early stages medium to heavy-weight bullocks were easier by £3 to £4 a head, but improved by as much as £2 10s as the sale progressed. Cows and heifers maintained a steady rate. Prime-quality bullocks made £33 to £36; mediumweights, £3O to £32 10s; handy-weights, £27 to £29; light-weights, £23 to £25 10s. Good-quality medium-weight heifers made £25 to £26 10s; handy-weights. £22 10s to £24; light-weirhts, £l9 to £2l 10s. Good-quality young cows made to £26; medium-weights, £22 10s to £24; light-weights, £l9 10s to £2l; aged. £ls to £l6 10s.
