HOUSING LOAN

HOMESERVICEMEN ELIGIBLE OTHER BENEFITS GRANTED PA WELLINGTON, Aug. 27. “ Priority for housing assistance has been lowered to include men with four years’® service or more in the armed forces, and it will be lowered further just as soon as it is practicable. Every homeserviceman, no matter how short his service, will at least be eligible for a housing loan,” said the Minister of Rehabilitation. Mr Sk-nner. at the no '-servicemen's comerence. Now there were no priorities in trade training, homeservicemen being on an equal rooting with men who nad service overseas. The same applied to educational assistance. Since the end of the war 6012 loans of various kinds, totalling £1,750,000, had been advanced to homeservicemen. It was intended to' advance money to all homeservicemen to build or v buy houses. The Minister said the drop in membership was not considerable, and was probably caused by . the deferment of the full benefits of rehabilitation.
