ELECTION CANDIDATES

SPECULATION CONCERNING INDEPENDENTS Parliamentary Reporter ' WELLINGTON, Aug. 28.

As the breakway of the Left minority from the Labour Party develops, there is much speculation on likely new Independent and Independent Labour candidates. The Democratic Labour Party expects that its leader, Mr John A. Lee, will again contest his old electorate, Grey Lynn, against the Postmaster-general, Mr Hackett. Dr Martin Finlay, Labour member for North Shore, will also be opposed, according to present plans, by an Independent candidate. 1 Labour's left is convinced that the Government is going out. This conviction is based on the belief that the Government will lose the Roskill, North Shore, Raglan and Otahuhu seats and not achieve sufficient gains to offset these losses.
