Senior Representatives Disappointment Expressed Disappointment had been expressed at a special meeting of the Maheno Football Club of the club’s representation in both the touring and B representative teams, states a letter from the club received at last night’s meeting of the North Otago Rugby Union. Being a struggling country club, some consideration was expected in the interests of football in general, the letter continued, and in view of this the club was seriously considering withdrawing its senior team next season. Mr J. Firman, who was in the chair, said it was pleasing to see the club write to the union on the matter and did not air its grievances in other ways. The selectors were, however; appointed at the annual meeting of the union, and the names of all representative teams were forwarded to the union for approval. As far as the senior B team was concerned, the Maheno player, C. Mather, had been selected recently, but had notified the selectors that he was not available, Mr R. Brown said. The Maheno Club might have had additional representatives this year but for injuries. One selector appointed had been nominated by the Maheno Club. If the union did anything in the matter it would be passing a vote of no-confi-dence in its selectors, Mr A. W. Marshall said. It was decided to forward a copy of the letter to the selectors to ask for any comment they wished to make.
