All-round co-operation in this respect will reduce substantially the aggregate running hours now lost through unnecessary standstill, and the national interest thus will be served by more intensive use being made of existing wagon stock. LAWN TENNIS NORTH-EAST VALLEY CLUB The annual meeting of the North-East Valley Lawn Tennis Club was well attended. The annual report and financial statement showed the affairs of the club to be in a satisfactory position. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: —Patron, Mr J. Leggett; president, Mr F. K. Knox; vice-presidents, Messrs C. D. H. Day and M. W. Sinclair; secretary. Miss L. Leslie; treasure!:, Mr R. Rishworth; committee —Mesdames C Day and F. Knox, Messrs J. McConnachie and I. Kerr; delegates to the Otago Lawn Tennis Association. Messrs E. Stanton and K. Munro. The opening day was fixed for September 10.
