WRECKAGE DISCOVERED
TIGER MOTH AIRCRAFT STRUT WASHED UP ON BEACH PA WELLINGTON. July 15. An inter-plane strut from a Moth aircraft has been found washed up on the beach at Kariotahi Gap, about nine miles north of Waikato Heads. Although it has not been positvely identified, it is believed to be wreckage from the Tiger Moth owned by the Auckland Aero Club which failed to return "after a flight from Mangere on April 28. The only occupant was the pilot, James Innes Taylor, aged 20, of 30 Queen street, Cambridge. A widespread search by aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force and the Auckland Aero Club failed _to reveal any trace of the Moth in which Taylor disappeared. It took off about 4.25 p.m., circled the field, and was last seen flying in a south-westerly direction about 4.45 p.m. The weather was good at the time, but patches of cloud increased soon after as rain squalls moved over the city.
