TELEPHONE DIRECTORY AMENDED ENTRIES In reply to a letter from North Otago Federated Farmers In respect to-,the nonInclusioq of changed numbers in the Oamaru Telephone Directory issued recently, the acting chief postmaster, Mr F. J. Shearer, advised yesterday’s' monthly meeting that the closing date for amending entries for inclusion in the new directory was January 19. The regrouping of the subscribers’ party lines was not completed until February 2. The matter of printing separate lists for circulation to all telephone subscribers had been approved, and these would be distributed within a few days. The North Otago Progress League wrote that it was understood that the federation had decided to investigate the possibilities of a scheme of grasslands as recommended by Mr E. B. Levy, Department of Agriculture, and it was decided to cooperate with the league in this matter. An invitation was received from the South Canterbury District for members of the executive to attend its annual conference at Timaru on June 1. A delegation of four was also invited to discuss the question of an organiser for North Otago and South Canterbury.—lt was generally agreed that an organiser was required, and it was decided to discuss the matter with South Canterbury. In reply to a letter from Federated Farmers on the subject of pollard for the manufacture of phosphorised pollard poison, the Rabbit Destruction Council advised that a new type of pollard was being used by an Invercargill company, and it was suggested that an order be placed with the company. The matter of distributing superphosphate in paper bags was brought forward. It was pointed out that these bags were more easily handled than the jute bags, and the suggestion was made that representations be made in an endeavour to obtain the distribution of super in paper bags. It was agreed to write to the Minister of Industries and Commerce in the matter.
