RUSSIA REPEATS PLEA TO OUTLAW ATOMIC WEAPONS
NZPA—Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. NEW YORK, May, 25. Russia to-day again asked the United Nations Atomic Energy Commission to draft two conventions which would outlaw atomic weapons and establish a limited form of atomic energy control. Mr Jacob Malik (Russia) repeated his earlier charges that the international control system, supported by an overwhelming majority of nations, was designed to give the United States a monopoly of atomic energy and would interfere with the sovereignty of nations. Mr Malik said that until the United States was prepared to destroy all its stocks of atomic bombs any agreement on future control was extremely doubtful. The commission decided to refer the Russian proposals to its working committee. “
