WELDING ACCIDENT

PA NELSON, May 25. Painful bums to the eye and possibly deeper complications from electric shock were suffered by Mr M. R. Coiiper, of Takaka. when he came into contact with a live ele^tr^y 1 " welding operations in his engineering workshop. Mr Couper was w on a motor vehicle with .an electric welding unit when it appears that he jabbed a live electrode into his eye. He was wearing a mask but had apparently pushed it up on to his forehead in order to inspect his work.
